Bald Eagle #17-1019 update

On May 22, Dr. Ernesto took Bald Eagle #17-1019 to surgery to repair the eagle’s fractured humerus. The surgery was challenging and took a couple of hours, but overall, went well. After the ends of the fractured bone were “freshened”, the bone was aligned and a metal pin was inserted the length of the humerus. An external fixator was placed to stabilize the fracture while the bone begins to heal.
